It's frequent to run into beautiful specimens of local fauna; this terrestrial turtle was looking for food in the calm waters of the cenote. Cenote waters are generally warm near the surface while temperature drops rapidly in the internal tunnels. Tipical water temperature during a dive is about 15 degrees centigrades; this requires use of a thick suit (5 mm at least) and a cap to avoid hipotermia or otitis. A scuba dive in a Cenote is never a long dive even in those shallow
waters because of the special safety measures (the same of cavern diving)
taken concerning air supply.
