Grand Cenote is in a elderly 'Mature Cenote' stage; the center of the Cenote is already full of debris (left side of the following picture) and many plants and even trees are going to make it a 'Dry Cenote'. It's common to see small fresh water fish and cat fish in the Cenote waters. Fish is so curious that sometimes it creates serious visibility problems! Stalactites can become quite big , like this one shot on the south
side of Grand Cenote . The next series of pictures relates to a scuba dive in Cenote
Ponderosa , located few chilometers north of Grand Cenote
and near to the beautiful beach of Akumal.
